Man Who Reached For Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
A man from Australia who vaulted past a barrier and reached for celebrity Ariana Grande has been expelled and prohibited from Singapore.
The man, aged 26, was given a sentence to over a week in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control stated to local media.
He forced his way beyond security and charged at the actress and singer, who was participating in the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on the thirteenth of November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including rushing the stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The singer has discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in May 2017 killed over twenty people and hurt numerous attendees.
During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere multiple times, according to Singaporean media.
He then made a follow-up try to cross the barriers. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.
The man subsequently shared videos expressing gratitude to the star for letting him on the carpet and said he was "free."
Law enforcement arrested him the subsequent day and charged him with public nuisance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by media reports as saying that the man sought attention, adding that he was incorrect to assume he would not experience repercussions.
The singer has not commented on the situation.
Cynthia Erivo discussed the situation to a media outlet, saying that she "simply desired to make sure my friend was protected."
"I think he didn't mean us injury, but you can't predict with those things, and I sought to confirm that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she commented.
