American thespian and writer Jeremy O Harris, renowned for the Tony-nominated production Slave Play, was detained last month at an international terminal in Japan on suspicion of attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the country, authorities stated.

The 36-year-old was intercepted on 16 November at Naha airport, located on Okinawa, after a border inspection agent found 0.78 grams of a crystal material containing the synthetic narcotic MDMA in his personal bag, according to a customs spokesperson.
